Yoshihiro Kitai holds an MFA in Printmaking and Drawing from Washington University, St. Louis, MO and a BFA in Printmaking from Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, OR, where he is currently an associate professor in the printmaking department. Born in Japan, he has lived for over 20 years in the United States- his experience of cultural transition and navigation/observation of cultural differences continues to inform his art. Yoshihiro's works on paper and panel often depict circuitous paths, reflecting the ups and downs of getting from here to there, and refer both in form and material to Japanese painting traditions.
