In the midst of 2020, Andrew Alba exhibited "Everyone Sucios," a dark and seemingly tense series of paintings portraying visions of animals and immigrants in labor. They exposed a feeling of threat and violence that many people of color carry around with them every day. Perro, is a visual interpretation of a sound; you see the teeth and red eyes and can hear the animal’s barking. Alba says, “I see a lot of academic art that seems to have a conversation with itself and leaves out everyone that doesn’t have an education. I only see this as a way for the elite to pat each other on the back and call it a day without saying anything worthwhile to the people. I find that this approach to art is very intimidating to most people. Especially Black, POC and lower income communities.”
