My drawing is mostly quiet, and observational. I sit or stand and look at stuff and draw it. Nothing fancy or spectacular, it’s just me looking at the thing. Whether it is a reflection of my own gaze or a gather of flowers that I picked, nothing changes.
When it isn’t quiet, it can be deafening. I judge myself, my worth, my capabilities. Sitting with all that while I look and figure, and continue to be taken by what lies in front of me.
Ultimately, it all comes out on the paper. I just have to show up, and some days I don’t want to. Always trying to leave it to the drawing room to say “good work and see ya tomorrow”.
