Yoshi comments: "The image uses subtly colored small dots to evoke a rising energy, a visual current that flows toward the sky and links the piece to the larger world." Kitai created this work with 18 and 23K gold and a very pure silver leaf that does not contain any aluminum, and he did not coat, seal or paint over the surfaces of the “Same Sky” series, so the metals can have some unpredictable changes or patina over time. He embraces the patina process in this series as an expression of the Japanese aesthetic philosophy known as "Wabi-Sabi" - where objects are not perfect and show age.
