"When choosing the images for any painting I don’t have any set plan or agenda, its like shuffling a deck of cards over and over, and suddenly you look up and you’ve dealt a perfect flush. It can happen on the first hand or the 10,000th. These three images stacked up had all the strangeness and resonance for me, they form an hourglass, three distinct phases of humanity: prehistory, civilization, and industrialization. Alligned in a tense dream of possibilities and horror. There are allusions to heaven in the imagining of a parthenon in the clouds. But what clouds are these?
