New and historic paintings plus work on paper by celebrated Oregon artist Tom Prochaska. His work balances depiction and abstraction with loose, agile lines and poetic suggestion, deep pigments with sublimely complex greys. Tom's comment about this group of paintings is that he’s "been finding a new way." He recently sold the home and studio building where he'd lived for the past 30 years, so everything is different. He's painting black and white compositions, and color too. He still has a strong focus on the landscape and outdoor spaces though he is painting from memory now, whereas he spent most of his life painting plein air.
The Hallie Ford Museum of Art recently organized a retrospective and monograph covering his decades-long career. The monograph is now available at Froelick Gallery.
