Stephen O'Donnell paints gender-defying self-portraits in which he is adorned in the dress and hairstyle of past centuries. He also paints finely-detailed images of animals and birds.
Almost entirely self-taught, Stephen has exhibited throughout the Pacific Northwest and California. His work has been displayed in conjunction with "The Science of Gender and Sex" 29th Annual Gender Studies Symposium at Lewis and Clark College, Portland, OR, and he has lectured on "The Figure in Contemporary Art" at the Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma, WA. His work is included in the collections of the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, New York, NY and the Portland Art Museum, Portland, OR.
