In childhood, Terrell had a generic book about roses. It was not a children's book, and not a technical book, just something her mother bought at a grocery store. One of the illustrations appeared to be a blue rose, and it stuck in Terrell's mind that there had to be a blue rose somewhere if it was in this book. For years she was obsessed with finding a blue rose! Years later she found the book in her mothers house and discovered that the ink simply reacted with the off-white color of the paper- so the rose appeared blue! She can laugh about it now, but as a child she was convinced that she'd find a blue rose one day...
