Nature is a powerful inspiration. Terrell James always has explored the natural world, whether it be as a fossil collector while still a young child or as an artist attempting to grasp the ever changing light and color of landscapes. It is this lifelong connection/communication that Terrell has shared with nature that informs her work. After spending time working in Berlin, she has been looking equally at the urban landscape.

The Art League Houston named Ms. James the 2016 Texas Artist of the Year and held a solo exhibition with accompanying catalogue. She was selected to participate in the Joan Mitchell Foundation's 2013 program thru Diverse Works to provide "comprehensive documentation of the artists' artworks and career." Public collections include the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Dallas Museum of Art; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Centro Cultural/Arte Contemporaneo; Televisa Cultural Foundation/Casa Lamm in Mexico City; and the Fundacion Vergel, Cuernavaca, Mexico.
