Benny Fountain presents on Albers' color theory at Black Mountain College

Black Mountain College 16th Annual ReVIEWing conference includes Benny Fountain

Benny Fountain presented at and moderated the discussion "Albers, Bauhaus, and Black Mountain: Critiques and Enhancements to a Modernist Color Legacy"
in early October, 2026.

This Panel is made up of three artists associated with the Josef and Annie Albers Foundation: past artists in residence Richard Kenton Webb and Benny Fountain, and the Foundation’s Educational Director, Fritz Horstman. Both Webb and Fountain have closely studied the color theory, teaching, and practice of Josef Albers, and with it the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College Legacy. While they have both gained a great deal from this innovator in color, they have also found places to critique and extend Albers' paradigm. In dialogue with Fritz Horstman, a preeminent expert on Albers’s color, Fountain and Webb will discuss their critiques and perspectives.
