We are thrilled to celebrate a terrific accomplishment for Froelick Gallery registrar Phineas VanKouwenhoven: Cactus Gallery, Los Angeles included Phineas' oil and alkyd painting "24 El Cotorro (The Parrot)" in their recent annual exhibit "Lotería XII" - and the painting sold. Congratulations to the collector with the great eye, and to Phineas' success in his first Los Angeles show!
Gallery employees spend most of their week promoting other artists and advancing their careers, but some of us also just can't get enough and find ways to get into the studio to make our own art. The paintings, etchings and sculpture that Phineas made during his last years at Whitman College were excellent and advanced, and it's impressive how he has maintained a solid commitment to working in his new Portland studio. Congratulations Phineas- keep up the good work and may the sales keep happening too!
