Orlando Almanza teaches two new classes through Oregon Arts Center

"Impressionist Portraits in Oil," and "Master Studies in Colored Pencil," open for enrollment today!
Impressionist Portraits in Oil

How do you make color capture the sensation of light in nature? In this five-week course, you’ll explore the color theory and techniques used by Impressionist painters to create vibrancy, movement, and atmosphere. Working with a live model set against the fresh, warm light of spring, you’ll learn to build compositions that convey both natural light and emotion.

Master Studies in Colored Pencil

In this five-week course, you’ll learn to build a colored drawing step by step that achieves the depth and richness of a classical painting. Through studying and copying works from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Impressionist periods, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of drawing, composition, color, and technique, exploring everything from tenebrist darkness to vibrant, luminous color.
