Froelick Gallery is proud to introduce two new artists, Rebecca Boraz and Lauren Mantecón.
Rebecca Boraz is a printmaker and mixed media artist based in Portland, Oregon. You may recognize Rebecca's work from seeing it at the Portland Art Museums, Rental Sales Gallery. As a printmaker, Rebecca once had studio space in Atelier Mars, a group print shop founded by notable artists, Tom Prochaska (represented by Froelick Galley) and Marth Pfanschmidt. Artists came to work with Prochaska and Pfanschmidt through word of mouth and a network of artist friends. Over the years artist who have printed with Atelier Mars have included George Johanson, Kim Osgood, Morgan Walker, Sarah Horowitz, and Jef Gunn. As Atelier Mars was coming to a close, Boraz decided to open her own printshop. Brave Atlas opened in 2023 and is where Rebecca currently prints and sculpts. Rebecca Boraz received her BFA in printmaking from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and received her Masters degree in art therapy from New York University.
Lauren Mantecón is an artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico with strong ties to Portland, Oregon. She is a first generation Mexican American who grew up moving back and forth between the east and west coasts negotiating displacement, the terrain of identity, and ultimately landing some place in the middle. Lauren recieved a BA in conceptual photography in 1989 from California State University and an MFA in painting in 1997 from Portland State University, Oregon. Over the course of her career, Lauren has presented 21 solo shows and has participated in 31 group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and Mexico.
We are excited to announce both artists will present debut shows with Froelick Gallery in 2025.
