This exhibition commemorates of the Jamison/Thomas Gallery legacy and will feature many artists who showed at the Portland and New York locations. Gilkerson was a self-taught (folk) artist living in California who had worked in mines and ship yards. Jamison Thomas Gallery was the first gallery to represent Robert Gilkerson's artwork. His art is held in the permanent collections of several museums, including the Oakland Museum, the American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore, MD and the Morris Graves Museum of Art, Eureka, CA.
