Framed by the artist with thin black laquered wood molding. Kitai created this work with 18 and 23K gold and a very pure silver leaf that does not contain any aluminum, and he did not coat, seal or paint over the surfaces of the “Same Sky” series, so the metals will have some unpredictable changes or patina over time. He embraces the patina process in this series as an expression of the Japanese aesthetic philosophy known as "Wabi-Sabi" - where objects are not perfect and show age.
