Grandfather Nene said goodbye to this world at 94 years old, after a long life. But before his
time had come, he had already said goodbye to two of his three children, his wife, and his
siblings. He always looked at me with a mischievous smile as if he knew something that I didn’t.
With my grandfather I crossed rivers and mountains, I traveled down dirt roads and through
fields of sunflowers, I met the dew of dawn and heard the sound of the mountain in the
moonlight.

Abuelo Nene se despidió de este mundo con 94 años, y si, vivió una larga vida. Pero antes de
que llegara su momento ya había despedido a dos de sus tres hijos, a su esposa y a sus
hermanos. Siempre me miraba con su sonrisa traviesa como si supiera algo que yo no sabía.
Con mi abuelo crucé ríos y montañas, con mi abuelo recorrí caminos de tierras y campos de
girasoles, con mi abuelo conocí el rocío del amanecer y el sonido del monte bajo la luz de la
luna.
