Hearn's grandfather called him Sugarbritches when he was a child! Micah says that he was quite sassy when he was a little boy.
Hearn comments further, " I have never not been "sugary". As a child I had the same cadence and poise that I have now.
PIcture it Mississippi: to be honest, you can't, unless you know.
I grew up with 3 other grandkids, all girls. My Papaw was excited to have a grandson. He got me.
I was second born of the grand childrens.
To his delight, a boy! It meee.
In spite of finally having the grandson (sweet n low) I was forced to play T ball. I did not excel; and that was that.
My papaw might tease and call out "hey sugar britches". But it was never the same as the other teasing I recieved.
While I have few memories of my Papaw Ray, the one's I have are so sweet.
Have you ever climbed into a tractor with your papaw... to go bush hogging? at 7yrs old?
My papaw referred to me as sugar britches.. I was more of a grasshopper catcher, not into balls (YET).
While "Sugar Britches", is the title of this piece... I have many more stories to tell.
