Whitney Lowe is a renowned graphic designer, architect, and former creative director at Wieden + Kennedy. He studied Architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, received a BFA in Graphic Design & Packaging at Art Center College of Design, and a Post-Bacc in ceramics from Oregon College of Art and Craft. He brings a strong formal sensibility, carried over from those disciplines, to his work- his manipulation of positive and negative space playfully confound the viewer. In 2018 he is featured in a solo exhibit at the Oregon College of Art and Craft, and in 2016 he was featured in a 2-person exhibition at Colorado State University.
Lowe aims to create both mass and void, usually resulting in complex compositions of molded forms, and surfaces treated in black "because shadow and silhouette compress visual reading and give little away". His work is recognized in numerous publications and exhibited at the SFMoMA. His work is in the collection of the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA.
