Kris Hargis makes arresting self portraits that invite the viewer into a private, internal space. He also works in the tradition of the still life, rendering rich floral arrangements. His pastel and charcoal drawings walk a line between focused and expressive, gestural marks, and erasures, which converge in a deeply compelling whole.
Hargis received his MFA from Boise State University in 2016, and his BFA from the University of Kansas in 1998. In the summer of 2014, he completed a two week residency at the Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC.
Hargis has been featured in numerous group exhibits throughout the country and Pacific Northwest, including:
