Published by Moon & Dog Press Tokyo / South Beach. This is part of a series of portraits Rick made referencing historic photographic portraits of Native Americans… he had several books and auction catalogues with early photographs. Rick said that people such as Curtis were valuable because people can now look and identify some of the formerly unknown sitters, maybe even find relatives. Yale University’s Beinecke Library has a fantastic unique book Rick made that he called “10 Little Indians,” it includes 10 drawings with hand coloring. Rick painted and drew images of Indigenous people throughout his life.
