This is based on several pastel drawings Rick made over the years- showing the family house and ladder up to the spirit world. And depicting Rick rowing the boat across Yaquina Bay with his Uncle's ashes for proper burrial... Rick's father died when Rick was 5. His father had a twin brother- Uncle... This is the uncle who made sure to inform Rick about the family's tribal relations, he was a surrogate father for Rick, he taught Rick about the natural cycles of the animals and natural surroundings of their home on Yaquina Bay - the Oregon Coast...
