Framed with ebonized walnut molding, rag mat, UV3 Plex 25 x 21 x 1 1/4".
This is from a series inspired by the legendary monk Daruma, also known as Bodhidarma. Little contemporary biographical information on Bodhidharma exists, and subsequent accounts are layered with myth and unreliable details. Bartow traveled to Japan in 1994 and 1997 for exhibitions of his work and studio visits with Japanese artists. Then he began this series in 1998. This image runs to the edge of this cream colored cotton rag paper. Published in Rick's collaboration with Japanese Master Printer Seiichi Hiroshima at their Moon and Dog Press.
