Tom Prochaska has been invited by the Oregon Arts Commission to create the award objects for this year's 2004 Governor's Arts Awards. Presented since 1977 in partnership with the Oregon Arts Commission, the Awards give official recognition to those whose work on behalf of the arts has significantly contributed to the growth and development of Oregon's cultural life. Past recipients include Jordan Schnitzer, Kristy Edmunds, Oregon School of Arts & Crafts, Will Vinton Studios, Manuel Izquierdo, Ursula LeGuin and Kim Stafford. Each year a prominent Oregon artist is commissioned to create a series of works which are given to Award recipients. Past artists honored with the commission include James Lavadour, Terry Toedtemeier, Frank Boyden and Laura Ross-Paul.
