Alfred Harris’ third solo exhibit with Froelick Gallery, titled Drummer Hodge, references the poem of the same name by Thomas Hardy. The poem is an economical description of the informal burial of a young English soldier killed during the Boer Wars of colonial South Africa. Like the poem, Harris’ paintings are about dislocation and reassemblage.

We are pleased to present a selection of Robert Hollingsworth’s vintage silver gelatin prints from 1950 to 1970. After studying under Minor White at the California School of Fine Arts, Hollingsworth began shooting documentary photographs while serving in WWII for the United States Navy. His entire professional life revolved around photography in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He remained a committed artist and photographer until his passing in 2007 at the age of 89.
