Laurie Danial

About the Artists:

"My studio practice is based on process and improvisation. My preference these days is to build an image, bit by bit, constructing a semi transparent, multi-layered surface, which ultimately serves as a mark making chronicle of my day to day experience. The work is not narrative per se, but a synthesis of all the varied things, visual and otherwise that catch my eye and motivate me. Working with both a methodical and at times intuitive approach, allows me to stretch more freely between abstraction and representation, two modes that exist simultaneously in my work. I use grid like structures, color fields and geometric patterning, as well as reference to the body, architecture and the organic. Color relationship is also something that interests me a great deal."
