Paul Green

A central figure in Portland’s art scene of the 1990s known for curious narrative scenes and portraits that suggest the Magic Realism of George Tooker and Frida Kahlo- as well as early Renaissance portraitists like Piero della Francesca and Botticelli- Paul Green’s subjects display vulnerability, wry humor, and a sense of longing. Born in San Diego, CA in 1960, Green earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1989 as well as a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 1985. He has exhibited throughout the United States and has works in the collections of Microsoft Corp., Seattle, WA; the Hotel Lucia, Portland, OR; the Metropolitan Arts Commission, Portland, OR and others.
