Gail Tremblay taught for many years at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. She received her B.F.A. in Drama from the University of New Hampshire in 1967 and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon in 1969. She is a member of the Onondaga and Micmac nations of upstate New York.
Gail has been working in visual arts community of the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years. Her basketry combines traditional techniques of weaving and contemporary materials. Her woven film baskets have been acquired by museums and corporate collections throughout the United States, including the Portland Art Museum, the Hallie Ford Museum at Willamette University in Salem and Microsoft. In 2001, Tremblay was awarded the Governor's Art Award for the State of Washington.
